I'm a writer, performer, and advantage gambler.

My memoir, Repeat Until Rich: A Professional Card Counter's Chronicle of the Blackjack Wars (Penguin Press), was excerpted in The New York Times and recognized alongside work by Jennifer Egan and David Shields as a Best Book of 2010 by The Nervous Breakdown.

I'm a regular at The Moth, where I've hosted StorySlams and appeared on a number of episodes of The Moth Radio Hour. I've performed in front of audiences small and large, at venues like Seattle's Neptune Theater, The Players Club in New York, the Royce Auditorium in Grand Rapids, and the Power Center in Ann Arbor.

My writing has appeared in Moon City Review, The Daily Beast, The Guardian, Smith Magazine, and was included in the anthology The Moment (Harper Perennial). I'm a 2019 fellow of the Jack Straw Writers Program, right here in Seattle.

As an advantage player, I've liberated over $1 million from the casino industry using lawful and often hilarious techniques.
